What You Can Do in Wells

Wells is a pretty Medieval market city, with about 12,000 inhabitants. It has a famous cathedral and a Bishops Palace.  While there is a lot of historical interest  in Wells, it is at the same time an active shopping and business centre.

There are also tennis courts and a leisure centre where you can swim, do yoga and other exercise classes as well as use the gymnasium. The City has a cinema which, although small, shows all the most recent films. There is a small theatre and many restaurants and good pubs too. Within a five minute drive there are riding stables and a golf course. Wells is surrounded by beautiful countryside so in good weather you can go for a relaxing walk in the woods or fields. As you can see there is plenty to do.

Wells has a regular bus service to Bristol and Bath. The bus journey usually takes around an hour and in these historic cities you will find all the usual attractions of the larger city, such as shopping, museums and art galleries. Nearer still is the town of Street, close to the famous Millfield School and featuring Clark's Village where you can go shopping, and Glastonbury, famous for its mysterious Tor and annual pop festival.
